BC is a global ICT hub, with Vancouver hosting major R&D operations. The tech sector now accounts for 9.6% of the province's total GDP. Forestry & Wood Products
Forestry is the most significant of BC's resource industries; forests cover 60 million hectares (63% of its land area) of BC—an area larger than the entire United Kingdom. This is increasingly becoming a valuable resource because forest biomass is being explored as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Mining & Critical Minerals

BC is home to LNG Canada in Kitimat — the country's first large-scale LNG export facility, which shipped its first cargo in 2025. Clean Electricity & Hydrogen
Roughly 90% of BC's electricity comes from hydropower, with 30 hydroelectric plants and over 80000 km of power lines running through the city, this is one of the cleanest grids in North America. Moreover, 98% of BC’s overall power is clean and renewable, coming from wind, solar, biomass and of course hydro. The remaining 2% of power supply comes from natural gas, which is used as a backup supply.

BC has significant warehousing and logistics infrastructure, including the Port of Vancouver — Canada's largest port — and the Port of Prince Rupert. A record 170.4 million metric tons of cargo moved through the Port of Vancouver in 2025. For German companies with Asian supply chains or export ambitions toward Asia-Pacific, BC is the only Canadian province offering direct Pacific deep-water access. Prince Rupert is also the closest major North American port to Asia by sailing time.

BC is a world leader in clean technologies for energy and transportation, serving as home to roughly 20% of Canada's entire cleantech workforce. Svante manufactures advanced solid-sorbent filters to capture CO₂ directly from industrial flue gas at a fraction of traditional costs.
