Project Partner
In collaboration with DIHK DEinternational GmbH and on behalf of the Bundesministeriums für Landwirtschaft, Ernährung und Heimat (BMLEH - Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas) we are organizing a business delegation trip focused on wine to Canada, with stops in Toronto and Montréal. The aim of the delegation is to initiate business opportunities, exchange experiences, and strengthen contacts with local companies and experts.
Market Situation
Canada is Germany's fifth-largest trading partner worldwide, importing goods worth a total of CAD 24.9 billion. With a market size of 41.3 million inhabitants and a wine import rate of over 70%, Canada is one of the most important wine-importing countries globally.
Toronto and Montréal are the largest regional hubs for import and distribution. For German suppliers, Canada is particularly attractive due to the CETA free trade agreement. In addition, there are growing market opportunities driven by a current shift away from U.S. imports and a simultaneous turn toward new, sustainable, and high-quality products - such as German wine.
Program
Purpose
The aim of the trip is to initiate business opportunities, exchange experiences, and strengthen contacts with local companies and experts in wine import and export. Participating companies will have the opportunity to establish personal connections, take part in individually arranged business meetings with Canadian industry players, and explore potential cooperation opportunities with local partners.
