BWIHK business trip to Canada on the topic of ‘Exploratory trip to Canada for aerospace technology in connection with hydrogen’

In cooperation with the project partner IHK Region Stuttgart, we are organising a business trip to Canada on the topic of ‘Exploratory trip to Canada for aerospace technology in connection with hydrogen’, from 16 March to 21 March to Montreal, Canada.

The aerospace sector ranked first among all manufacturing industries in Canada in research and development in 2023. The industry contributed CAD 28.9 billion to GDP in 2023 and provided nearly 218,000 jobs.  The Canadian aerospace industry continues to be characterised by a diverse product portfolio and strong integration into global value chains. In 2023, more than 75% of aerospace industry sales were export-oriented, with the supply chain accounting for over 60%. Canadian aerospace products were shipped to over 195 countries on 6 continents in 2023.

As a national leader in innovation, skilled labour and trade, aerospace is one of Canada's most important industries. It is also a major player on a global scale. Canada is a world leader in niche sectors such as business aircraft, helicopters and rotorcraft, small engines, and simulation and training technology.

The country is an attractive location for all stages of the aerospace value chain. International Tier 1, Tier 2 and 3 companies use Canada's supplier base and skilled labour to access markets such as the US and other countries with which Canada has trade agreements.

The trip will lead to Greater Montreal, one of the world's largest aerospace centres with a large number of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers as well as a strong research and development infrastructure. Montreal is home to leading companies that manufacture aeroplanes and helicopters, but also develop engines, simulators and innovative aviation technologies. The city is known for its strong innovation ecosystem focused on the decarbonisation of aviation. Projects to develop sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and hybrid propulsion systems are widespread.

The goal of the trip is to introduce companies from the region Baden-Wuerttemberg to aerospace technology in conjunction with hydrogen. Participants will have the opportunity to explore advanced solutions and technologies and gain exclusive access to state-of-the-art production facilities and industry experts.

This business trip is also an opportunity to network and build lasting relationships with leading German companies in a forward-thinking industry.
