Dear readers,

As we begin 2026, one thing is clear: the transatlantic partnership between Germany and Canada holds significant potential as a driver for economic stability and mutual growth – potential we are committed to unlocking.

Mark Carney's recent remarks at the WEF in Davos underscored this powerfully. Diversification remains Canada's strategic priority for 2026. "We're engaging broadly, strategically, with open eyes. We actively take on the world as it is, not wait around for a world we wish to be." This realignment offers exceptional opportunities – for Canada, but equally for Germany as a reliable partner sharing common values.

This year carries special significance: 2026 marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between Canada and Germany. As economic bridge-builders, we are proud to strengthen this relationship – not only by facilitating business, but by connecting people, ideas, and markets.

Our 2026 agenda reflects these priorities: through delegation visits and market development programs, we focus on sustainable production in critical minerals and battery manufacturing, energy-efficient construction, and artificial intelligence – topics that will also take center stage at Hannover Messe 2026.

2026 could be the year when commitments turn into concrete action. The conditions are promising – now it's time to seize them.

Warm regards,
Yvonne Denz and the CGCIC team
