Purpose
The cluster delegation trip offers German companies and institutions across the green hydrogen value chain the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Canadian market, establish new business contacts, and present their solutions to an international audience of experts. As part of Hyvolution Canada and an accompanying visit program in Québec and Ontario, participants will meet leading stakeholders from industry and research, gain insights into innovative hydrogen projects, and lay the groundwork for sustainable partnerships and future business relationships.
Program
Market Situation
Hydrogen is a key strategic element for Canada’s energy transition and the decarbonization of industry. Supported by the Canadian Hydrogen Strategy and federal tax incentives, Canada aims to establish itself as one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of low-carbon hydrogen. The country has abundant renewable energy sources, an existing natural gas infrastructure, and high industrial demand in sectors such as heavy industry, transportation, and power generation.
Québec and Ontario are Canada’s leading hydrogen regions. Québec’s nearly emission-free power grid, which is primarily based on hydropower, offers ideal conditions for the production of green hydrogen. Ontario combines a strong industrial base with clean electricity and promotes the use of hydrogen in industry, the mobility sector, and energy supply.
Germany and Canada significantly expanded their cooperation in the hydrogen sector with the signing of the Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance in 2022. This growing partnership creates excellent conditions for new collaborations between German and Canadian stakeholders and strengthens transatlantic value chains.
