In partnership with German Mining & Resources Network, we will host a webinar diving into Canada’s Mining and Resource Sector and talking about emerging trends and strategic opportunities.

Market Situation

Canada’s mining and resource sector in 2025 is marked by both significant opportunities and emerging challenges, positioning the country as a key global player in critical minerals, gold, copper, and clean technology supply chains.

Canada remains a world leader in mineral production, contributing $112 billion to GDP in 2024, with gold and copper as top exports. The sector is undergoing transformation driven by the global energy transition, which is fueling unprecedented demand for critical minerals such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth elements - essential for batteries, electric vehicles, and clean energy technologies.

Looking ahead, Canada’s mining sector is poised for growth, underpinned by rising global demand for critical minerals and clean technologies. To capitalize on these opportunities, the industry is focusing on diversifying export markets, attracting patient long-term investment, and building sustainable, inclusive partnerships with Indigenous communities. This positions Canada as a reliable supplier and strategic ally in the global shift toward a low-carbon economy.

Canada is a cornerstone of global mining, rich in critical minerals like nickel, cobalt, rare earths, and niobium - essential for the green transition. With a stable regulatory landscape, strong ESG standards, and vast untapped resources, Canada stands out as a strategic partner. Deep cultural and economic ties with Germany and Europe, strengthened by shared values and the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), open the door for closer cooperation.
