June 25-30: In collaboration with the Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen GmbH, CGCIC is organizing a business delegation to Toronto, Canada and Boston, USA in the fields of Lifescience, Pharma and Biotechnology. July 5: The IHK München and Oberbayern is organizing the "Sommergespräch Kanada 2017" at Palmenhaus Schloss Nymphenburg to discuss the impact of the free trade agreement CETA on Bavarian companies and the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). March 19-21: Once again ProWein impressively proved it is the world’s most important business platform for the international wine and spirits sector with the highest Canadian participation in history of the event. The Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Canadian Vintners Association, along with three provincial associations, jointly organized the Wines of Canada Pavilion with 22 wineries from British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia.  Read more

CETA Customs Clearance Procedures

Relevant information has been published on the European Commission website in regards to  customs clearance procedures for EU exports/reduced tariffs under CETA . Before EU exporters can benefit from reduced tariffs under the CETA, they have to complete a few simple steps to make sure their goods get cleared at Customs. Investment Guarantees of the Federal Government - Annual Report 2016

The BMWi has published its annual report on the Federal Government's investment guarantees. In 2016, the Confederation took coverage in the amount of EUR 4.3 billion for 72 projects in 22 countries. To read full report (in German), please click here.

Canada successfully using networking in healthcare

E-health is becoming a key topic in the Canadian healthcare sector. Public and private investment in equipment and IT solutions is likely to continue to grow in the coming years. For example, Smart Hospital with a robot system and telemedicine are exemplary. The use of electronic patient records alone saves 200 million CAD. Read  more (in German)

May 15-19: The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Canada and Senvion Canada Inc. invited Arne Jungjohann to Canada. During his visit, Mr. Jungjohann will talk about the diversity of the German renewable energy landscape and the “Energiewende” (Energy transition), with its high involvement of citizens and co-ops, as a model for other nations. May 16: Please join us for a CETA information session followed by a cocktail reception, commemorating the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration in 1950 and the beginning of the European Union. Read more

May 18: Various companies, research institutes and research networks will present about 200 R&D projects as part of the “Central Innovation Program for SMEs” (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand - ZIM), supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. At the same time, ZIM partner networks IraSME and CORNET will host a Partnering Event, where they will bring together SMEs, research institutes and universities with plans to apply for ZIM funding.
