Canadian provinces drive electric mobility forward

Sales of electric vehicles in Canada continued to grow significantly in 2016. In the meantime, nearly 30,000 battery powered and plug-in vehicles were on the road. The provinces of Quebec and Ontario have set ambitious electric mobility targets. Using purchase incentives, the proportion of electric vehicles should increase to 5% of new vehicle registrations by 2020. Auto manufacturers are offering increasingly more electric modals in Canada. Competition in Canadian retail intensifies

The Canadian retail market is looking back on another successful year. In 2016, sales increased by almost 4% to $533 billion. Particularly in the food sector, price competition is becoming increasingly heated and retailers are trying out new strategies. Classic supermarket chains are losing sales to the US wholesaler Costco, which now has 10 million customers in Canada. Major cities remain a growth engine for the retail industry.
